1. Background
Nine Tenths company wanted to connect Saudi Arabia’s local pool of professional freelancers to potential clients with the aim of giving professionals the opportunity to increase their income while gaining practical experience. This would also provide companies with a wide range of local talent to fit their different requirements and budgets.
2. Client Requirements
Nine Tenths wanted to design and implement a secure and user-friendly platform. The interface design needed to be simple and easy to use so as to cater to all individuals, regardless of their technical background. It was important that the system allowed clients and professionals to communicate freely via messaging, and that notifications could be sent when needed. Finally, the platform needed to allow clients to pay professionals online without either party sharing bank details, and to accommodate the option of printable invoices and contracts.
3. The Challenges
There were several design challenges at hand. With regards to the payment module, the system needed to be designed to track the payment from the moment the client pays until the freelancer receives payment. Secondly, it was necessary to design a system to protect both the client and the freelancer whenever conflicts arose.
4. The Solutions
As a result, eSpace created “Bahr”, an all inclusive solution that facilitates, controls and secures the transaction between potential clients and professional freelancers. Bahr provides solutions for all stages of the transaction between the two parties, starting with a request for proposal, matching talent, project submission and online payment. It also provides clients the option to request a legally binding NDA from the matched freelancer and allows the client to rate the freelancer. Bahr is a full tracking system that keeps track of all payments and handles any payment gateway failures. It also includes a conflict resolution feature that guarantees a refund for the client in the event that the work is not delivered. It also guarantees payment for the freelancer if the client changes the initial agreement.
5. The Outcome
Bahr is currently helping over 31,000 professionals and 8,000 clients to connect and collaborate on over 12,000 projects.
