eSpace has had the honor of working closely with the Egyptian National Elections Committee (NEC) and MCIT to during the Egyptian Parliamentary elections 2020. We developed and operated the official online portal for the 2020 house and senate elections. Using the online portal voters were able to identify their polling details and locations. The portal also allowed the Elections Management Body (EMB) to manage the candidates’ applications process.

The portal developed by eSpace contained several features to ensure the smooth elections process. It offered an Out of Country Voters Module that enables expatriates to vote at embassies. Due to Covid-19 precautions the developed module allowed the expatriates to vote using post instead of voting in person at the embassy. The portal also contained a Candidates Management System which enables parliament candidates’ registration along with assigning their symbols and stating their status (accepted, rejected, withdrawal, …). Also, the system handles the internal results entry per constituency per sub-committees along with calculating the winners per each constituency. A Result Management System enabled officials to enter results of candidates during the ongoing elections for each subcommittee, The results were published on the elections website.

The NEC contacted eSpace one week before the candidates were schedule to start the application process, which introduced a huge challenge due to the short notice. eSpace team have been put a tremendous effort to ensure the election process was smooth and the portal was not down for any reason throughout the full six months of operation.
